Andy Austin Earns CCIM Designation, Uniting Three Gold-Standard Credentials in Real Estate
Double A Auction & Realty principal combines advanced qualifications in commercial appraisal, auction marketing, and commercial investment real estate.
VIRGINIA — October 13, 2026 — William A. “Andy” Austin, owner and principal of Double A Auction & Realty, has earned the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation after completing the final comprehensive examination in Los Angeles, California, last week.
The achievement adds the CCIM designation to Austin’s existing MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and CAI designation from the National Auction Association. Together, the three represent the flagship, gold-standard credentials in commercial real estate appraisal, the auction profession, and commercial investment real estate brokerage and analysis.
MAI
Commercial Real Estate Valuation & Appraisal
CAI
Auction Business Management & Leadership
CCIM
Commercial Investment Real Estate & Analysis
To his knowledge, Austin is the only individual to hold all three designations simultaneously. The combination brings three complementary disciplines to his work: understanding a property’s value, evaluating its investment potential, and bringing it to market through competitive bidding.
“My goal has always been to give clients more than a way to buy or sell property. They deserve a clear understanding of value, an informed assessment of the investment, and a strategy for achieving their objectives. Earning the CCIM designation strengthens the analytical foundation behind that work.”
Awarded by The CCIM Institute, the CCIM designation recognizes advanced expertise in commercial and investment real estate. Its core curriculum covers financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, and investment analysis. The program also includes ethics and negotiation training, with professional experience requirements that vary by candidacy pathway and a comprehensive examination as the final step.
The coursework emphasizes practical decisions facing property owners, investors, and businesses. These include evaluating projected cash flows and investment returns, interpreting market demand, comparing ownership with leasing, and assessing acquisition and disposition strategies. Investment analysis also examines how changes in assumptions affect projected performance and risk.
For Austin’s clients, those tools support a more detailed evaluation of purchase price, operating income, expenses, anticipated resale proceeds, and internal rate of return. They provide a framework for comparing opportunities and understanding the assumptions behind an investment projection.
Austin’s MAI designation complements that investment perspective with advanced training and demonstrated experience in real estate valuation. The Appraisal Institute’s requirements include rigorous examinations, specialized appraisal experience, and a demonstration of knowledge, supported by professional ethics and standards.
His CAI designation adds the National Auction Association’s highest level of professional achievement. The three-year Certified Auctioneers Institute program at Indiana University focuses on auction business management, leadership, strategy, and professional practice.
Through Double A Auction & Realty, Austin applies these disciplines to real estate auctions, buyer representation, valuation, and consulting. The combined qualifications are particularly relevant to owners considering a sale, investors evaluating acquisitions, and fiduciaries making decisions about estate or trust property.
